I have read in so many forums on younger people hating being in tasmania, and that they have nothing to do. I am in my early 40's and grew up in Brisbane city, I party'd every weekend with my friends when I was in my latter teens and early 20's and it was always at local pubs and clubs in bigger towns and when we jumped in the car to go somewhere for the day/weekend it was either camping or bushwalking or the beach. In reality you dont really travel that far from home all the time. So Im pretty sure you have all those things right there in tasmania including ten pin bowling in the bigger towns. The only thing I see as an issue would be The more successful live bands(eg..Pink, The offspring etc) But again how often do they come round. There always a short plane flight away to melbourne. I have a teen son, who soon will want to party with his mates, so my question to you all(younger people) is what is it that you thing you are missing on the mainland that you cant do in tasmania.? Any insite on this would be greatly appreciated. Tania

Tania,
Personally I miss public transport. If you live any further than about 20 minutes outside Hobart your options are limited after 5pm. And by limited I mean almost non existent. It's either an expensive cab ride home, drive in and back, or stay in town and come back the next day.
While I'm at it. Make sure your kids learn to drive (legally). So many young people in Tasmania drive unlicensed or Hitchhike which is bad either way you look at it.

Hi Tim, I didnt consider the public transport or the lack of. I have been looking at buying close enough to Launceston or Hobart so that will hopefully make it alittle easier for my eldest boy and for myself(as the taxi). Thanks for the reply. Tania
