Hi there Hubby and I and 2 kids have made the decision that this is the year we are moving to Tas! We are keen to get a little farmlet outside of Launceston, and seriously considering Lilydale area. We have visited a few times and love it. We have been travelling around Australia, currently in WA, and plan to make the move before the end of the year. We were hoping to at least have one of us with work lined up before we get there, but not sure if this is going to be possible to juggle moving out of here and getting over there within a short space of time, and don't want to keep delaying because we just want to get there! Any suggestions/ideas/feedback about the job situation in Tasmania would be much appreciated. We both have varied skills and haven't had trouble getting work in WA and the NT, but we aren't 100% sure what the job availability is like in TAS. Look forward to hearing people's thoughts! Thanks ;D

Hi Swanny,
It's not going to be as easy getting a job here as it is in WA or the NT. Make sure you have some savings to prop you up until you get a job.
You can always try emailing your CV in reply to job ads you see so that you can line them up some interviews in advance.

Hi Swanny, We are moving in September (hubby and 3 kids) from NSW. Have bought acreage and are going to build. Both going without work at this stage. Have been monitoring Seek and I want part time and there seems to be a stead stream of roles, but whether I'd get one or not is another thing! We are totally flexible and happy to take on anything to start with, so we'll just have to see - figured it's a lot easier to look when we're there and then we can also do temp work if necessary to tide us over. What's your time frame for getting there? We're living in the Exeter area - West Tamar... Amanda
